FENWICK 1, PATHS & COLD ROOM - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The Fenwick Stud homestead is a single storey bluestone house of ten rooms, built in 1865 by John Horner. In 1903 the estate was conveyed to Samuel Gibson who built up a Clydesdale stud on the property.Heritage Inventory Description
FENWICK 1, PATHS & COLD ROOM - Heritage Inventory Description
Fenwick Stud Homestead has been classified by National Trust (see for detailed record). Archaeological material includes the bluestone path in front of house and one leading from the cold room to the main house. The paths are approximately 2 metres wide. The cold room is cut into natural rock. It is 8 x 4 metres and the gaps are infilled with mortar/cement, and bluestone and mortar. Drill marks are evident. Originally underground, it faces south.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Medium. The paths are part of original design of garden and property. and the cool room is one of the largest recorded.
