Agnes Folkes father operated a local sawmill, supplying timber for surrounding farms, fences and mines.

The memorial grave of Agnes Folkes in the Caravan Park at Halls Gap consists of a concrete base with a central incised panel of white screenings. At one end is a concrete base to a carved marble headstone taking the form of a book. The headstone reads: "Sacred to the Memory of Agnes Folkes died 30th July 1870 Age 3 months".
