Statement of Significance
Erected in 1867-68 by Cunningham and Sheffield as replacement of a timber church which was completed in 1858. The present church is constructed in the local granite and comprises a simple rectangular buttressed hall with tall lancet windows. The centrally located 'west' door is framed by two deep buttresses that rise and join to form the bellcote.
This is a notable example of a small provincial church in the gothic revival style and is indicative of the spread of Presbyterianism throughoutVictoria in the mid-nineteenth century. The building is simply composed and well construcxted in the distinctive local granite. The bellcote with its giant buttresses which frame the 'west' door is a distinctive and unique feature. The coloured glass windows are also distinctive. The church is an outstanding feature of this important historic town.
The building is intact and in a sound structural condition.
