Statement of Significance
Wallalloo Park, 80 Bolangum Inn Road, Marnoo, has significance as a surviving 19th century pastoral property. Initially owned by A. and David Anderson from 1860, the property was purchased by James Weatherly in 1887 and it continues to be owned by his descendants, the Carter family. Although the homestead has experienced substantial alterations, the woolshed is predominantly intact but has been extended.
The homestead at Wallalloo Park is of architectural interest. The asymmetrical composition hipped roof forms, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, encircling verandah and timber framed bay windows and doors are those particular features that contribute to the architectural amenity of the place. Given that the homestead has experienced considerable change, its integrity is low.
The woolshed at Wallalloo Park is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of a Victorian vernacular outbuilding of the 19th century. These qualities include the very long and broad hipped roof form that terminates into the jerkin head roof at one end. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the lapped galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, vertical timber slab and galvanised corrugated iron wall construction and the exposed rudimentary timber framing and timber pens on the interior. The exotic trees and setting contributes to the significance of the place.
Wallalloo Park is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with pastoral developments near Marnoo in the 19th century. In particular, this property has associations with A. and David Anderson from 1860, and more particularly with James Weatherly from 1887. Weatherly's descendants, the Carter family, have continued the long associations with the property until the present day.
Overall, Wallalloo Park is of LOCAL significance.

Wallalloo Park, 80 Bolangum Inn Road, MARNOO - Physical Description 1
Wallalloo Park off Marnoo Kanya Road, Marnoo, is situated in a rural setting. It consists of an altered timber homestead surrounded by open grassed areas, mature exotic trees and perimeter garden beds, with an earlier substantial woolshed nearby.
The asymmetrical, single storey, horizontal timber weatherboard house has experienced a number of alterations. It is characterised by picturesque roof forms including a broad steeply pitched hipped roof, rear minor hipped roof wings and an encircling broken back verandah. These roof forms are clad in green painted galvanised corrugated iron. An introduced painted brick chimney adorns the roofline.
A feature of the design is the encircling verandah that is supported by timber posts. There is a shallow arched timber valances with trefoil cut outs.
Other features include the timber framed windows, including the projecting faceted bays with timber and glazed doors.
No fabric remains of the original homestead today, which was situated at the rear of the existing building.
Internally, the hall and the front rooms appear to retain their early form.
The nearby woolshed is characterised by a very long and broad hipped roof form that terminates into a jerkin head roof at one end (the jerkin head wing appears to have been added). These roof forms are clad in lapped galvanised iron, while the walls are constructed of vertical timber slabs and galvanised corrugated iron. Internally the early rudimentary timber framing is intact, as are the timber pens.
