HAYDEN'S INCLINE BLACKWOOD - History
LAURENCE HAYDEN INSTALLED A 5'3" GAUGE INCLINE TRAMWAY IN 1894 TO CONNECT WITH A GRADE LINE COMING OUT OF THE FIRM'S MILL ON WOMBAT CREEK. THE INCLINE OPERATED UNTIL 1896 WHEN IT WAS DESTROYED IN A BUSHFIRE.HAYDEN'S INCLINE BLACKWOOD - Interpretation of Site
Earthworks indicate the line was constructed to the gauge of 5'3" in using the principal-and-stringer method. The incline connected to a tramline coming out of the firm's mill on Wombat Creek.
