Statement of Significance
The O'Halloran & Hare farmhouse site is of local significance for its associations with the early settlement of the Hazelwood area during the selection era in the late nineteenth century. It Illustrates how farms were developed and is of particular interest for the surviving domed wells which are rare examples within the study area.

The O'Halloran and Hare farmhouses, now situated within Mathison Park, comprises the ruins of buildings, wells and remnant trees associated with the use of this land as a farm by the O'Halloran and Hare families between c1880 and 1960.

O'HALLORAN AND HARE FARMHOUSE SITE - Heritage Inventory Description
The O'Halloran and Hare farmhousesite comprises the ruins of buildings, wells and remnant trees associated with the use of this land as a farm. Of particular interest are the surviving domed wells.
Property contains ruins of buildings, wells and trees. This includes the ruinous remains of the c1920 Hare farmhouse, ruined slab footings of the former dairy/milking shed, two partly destroyed brick and render wells, and several significant trees includign an Italian Cypress, peppercorn tree, and the remains of an orchard.
