Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
An unusual brick Bungalow house with an attic built in 1923-24. It has architectural significance as an unusual Bungalow style example, but particularly for its Griffinesque gable vent detail. It has historical significance as a representative embodiment of comfortable and assured family life of the period and its values.
INTACTNESS:
Good. The attic window, skillion roof, verandah glazed infill and 1940s geometric fence of tapestry bricks with a hedge are all later additions.
CONDITION: Excellent
REFERENCE: City of Newtown and Chilwell Ratebooks.

Residence - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
A double fronted L shaped brick bungalow. A broad gable faces at right and another projects at rear side left. There is a large porch in the angle with a flat pergola roof on rectangular piers. There is a brick balustrade with spherical glass and metal standard lamps on the piers. There is an oculus with a waratah motif in leadlight. Walls are all rendered over dado height with battered buttresses. There are arched and flat openings under the front gable, now glazed, presumably once a verandah. The gable has deep eaves on purlins, the upper section is shingles, but below is an extraordinary Griffinesque vent, formed of lozenge scales in a semicircular moulded panel. Chimneys have pots and frieze moulds. There may be remnant original trees in the garden including a maple (Acer).
