Statement of Significance
'Barter' at 393 Buckley Street, Aberfeldie was built for Sydney Bartlett in 1921-23. It has aesthetic importance as an unusual interpretation of the then popular Californian Bungalow style, using motifs from the Federation period but incorporating highly original elements especially including the shaped cement beams to the porch (Criterion E).

HOUSE (BARTER) - Physical Description 1
An unusual Arts and Crafts influenced white tuck pointed red brick bungalow with distinctive projecting porch having shaped cement beams and tapered posts on brick pedestals with connecting brick balustrade and cast cement balusters. There is a rising sun motif in the porch gable whilst the windows have ox-bow shaped hoods with stuccoed enrichment, lead light work and glazing bars in the upper sashes.
Condition: Sound. Integrity: High.
