LAKE CONDAH - COMPLEX G - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Incoming Europeans, many from the Scottish Highlands, used the country for various activities including gathering wattle bark, cattle and sheep grazing. None placed their major homesteads on the Stones. Instead shepherds and boundary riders built rough cottages from the abundant local stone.

LAKE CONDAH - COMPLEX G - Heritage Inventory Description
1. A partially collapsed chimney constructed with mud mortar and associated bluestone foundations (previously H7221-0229).2.. Crude semi-circular dry stone wall stock pen abutting natural lava flow, roughly oval shaped (previously H7221-0230).3. The base of a post and wire fence built from basalt rock enclosing the above.

Informants: DCNR/nRecorded by: A. Murphy & D. Rhodes Date Recorded: 25FEB1990 Heritage Inventory Site Features: 1. Largely collapsed basalt stone chimney and adjacent footings. Rectangular base measuring 1.96 metres (back), 0.73 metres (side) and 1.25 metres (height). Constructed from non-dressed basalt fittings with mud mortar. The walls of the chimney were constructed by laying two rows of basalt stones with a rubble infill. Angled stones have been used on the inside of the hearth, possibly for a decorative effect. The footings are a single row of basalt rocks , laid in a shallow trench forming a rectangle measuring 7.03 metres x 3.53 metres. 2. Dry stone wall enclosure constructed of a single row of basalt stones in random courses, sometimes built up from the ground, sometimes along the top of the basalt lava flow and between 1 and 1.5 metres in height. Poor condition. The base of he post and wire fence forms the south boundary of the enclosure.
