Statement of Significance
The Emu Railway Station at Emu has significance as an historical legacy of the development of the railway line between Dunolly and St. Arnaud by 1880. The buildings on the site today appear to be more recent, although the platform construction may be early.
The Emu Railway Station at Emu is historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. They are associated with the development of the Dunolly and St. Arnaud railway line by 1880, and in particular with the establishment of the Emu Railway Station in late 1880/early 1881.
Overall, the Emu Railway Station at Emu is of LOCAL Significance.

Railway Station, Emu Road, EMU - Physical Description 1
The former Railway Station, Emu Road, Emu, has a rural setting. The complex consists of a modestly scaled and rudimentary gabled building with a galvanised corrugated iron roof (painted deep red) and vertical boarded wall cladding, together with a nearby galvanised corrugated iron toilet block and railway platform with timber retaining walls fronting the dual railway line. There are some exotic trees adjacent the complex, including a large pine.
