Statement of Significance
Wimmera Park at Campbells Bridge has significance as a moderately intact example of a 19th century farm complex. The property features a single storey homestead with the original portion possibly built as early as 1875, together with an adjacent outbuilding, underground tank and timber woolshed. The homestead surrounds, including the mature exotic and native trees, contribute to the significance of the place.
The homestead at Wimmera Park is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. Although altered and extended, it still demonstrates design qualities of a Victorian style, and the additions also contribute to the sequence of development of the place. These qualities include the complex hipped and gabled roof forms forming an L layout, timber framed double hung windows, narrow eaves, brick chimneys with multi-corbelled tops, timber framed doorways, and the panelled timber doors. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the skillion verandahs, turned timber verandah posts, decorative fascias and the decorative timber bargeboards and turned timber finials.
The adjacent outbuilding to the homestead at Wimmera Park is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. Although extended, it still demonstrates early design qualities, including the gable roof form clad in galvanised corrugated iron and the horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the single storey height, timber framed double hung windows and the window hoods.
The woolshed at Wimmera Park is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates early design qualities that include the long gable roof form with skillion wings, together with the galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding and horizontal timber weatherboard and vertical timber paling wall cladding.
Wimmera Park at Campbells Bridge is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with farming developments at Campbells Bridge in the 19th century. In particular, this property was established in 1875 and the sequence of building developments contribute to an understanding of farm life in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The underground tank at Wimmera Park is scientifically significant at a LOCAL level. It illustrates 19th century brick tank construction.
Overall, Wimmera Park at Campbells Bridge is of LOCAL significance.

Wimmera Park, 327 Wimmera Park Road, CAMPBELLS BRIDGE - Physical Description 1
Wimmera Park at Campbells Bridge is a 19th century homestead complex. The significant buildings on the property include the single storey homestead with garden surrounds (including mature exotic and native trees), outbuilding nearby, underground tank and the distant woolshed.
The asymmetrical, single storey, horizontal timber weatherboard Victorian styled homestead comprises an L shaped layout and has been altered and extended over time. The original portion appears to be the central hipped roof section, which now has hipped roofs at the sides. These side roof forms terminate into gables at the rear, although the roof has been extended on one side. These roof forms are clad in introduced concrete tiles. Several painted brick chimneys with multi-corbelled tops adorn the roofline. Narrow overhangs and decorative timber fascias are features of the eaves of the side wings.
The original portion of the homestead features a skillion verandah at the front, which is supported by introduced turned timber columns. At the rear is also an introduced skillion verandah with timber framed and glazed infill and timber and glazed double doors. There is also a long skillion verandah along one side of the extended gable, which is supported by introduced turned timber columns.
The original portion of the homestead also features an early 12 paned timber framed double hung window. The single timber framed door openings with timber and glazed doors and transom windows have been altered and/or introduced.
The side wings have introduced projecting faceted timber framed double hung four paned bay windows at the front. These bays have flat roofs. The rear and side elevations feature timber framed four paned double hung windows, and timber framed doorways with early and altered panelled timber doors (some are glazed).
The rear gable ends to the side wings have decorative timber bargeboards, and the windows are adorned with window hoods supported by timber brackets.
Adjacent to the homestead is a small residential outbuilding. It is single storey in height and has a simple gable roof form and no eaves. The windows are timber framed and feature window hoods. There is a skillion addition at one end, and a small skillion wing at the other end.
Nearby the homestead is an underground tank, which appears to be brick-lined.
Also on the property is an early woolshed. It is characterised by a long gable roof form with skillion wings along the longitudinal sides. These roof forms are clad in early galvanised corrugated iron and feature rectangular roof lights. The woolshed is of timber framed construction with horizontal timber weatherboard and vertical paling wall cladding.
