Former Marnoo Post Office and Store, 10 Station Street, MARNOO - Physical Description 1
The former post office and store, 10 Station Street, Marnoo, is set on a contextually small allotment, and has a verandah that abuts the front boundary. There is small overgrown plantings and trees at one side.
The single storey, horizontal weatherboard, early 20th century former store is characterised by a simple broad gable roof form, with a stepped parapet and projecting skillion verandah at the front. The roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron, while the parapet is constructed of early pressed metal panels. The windows and cladding under the front at the front has been introduced, replaced earlier horizontal weatherboards, which are still present at the sides and rear of the building. Early timber framed windows and doorways (with four panelled doors) have also been blocked up as a result of the cladding, and have possibly been removed.
The boxed timber framed double hung windows along the side of the building, supported by simple timber brackets, are early. The form and simple square timber verandah posts are also early, as are the vertical panelled cladding to the upper ends of the verandah.
The side skillion wing to one side of the building has been introduced at some stage, as has the exhaust ventilation duct and unit on the other side at the rear.
