Statement of Significance
The Willaring Bridge over the Richardson River at Morrl Morrl has significance as one of the oldest road bridges in the Stawell Shire still in use. It represents important 19th century infrastructure, having been initially constructed in c.1887 by T. and A. Williams of Joel Joel. The bridge shows signs of considerable deterioration and is in fair-poor condition. The Willaring Bridge over the Richardson River at Morrl Morrl is aesthetically and scientifically significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities typical of road bridge construction in the 19th century. In particular, these qualities include the two trestles comprising four unsquared piles braced with squared walings and cross bracings, single square crossheads, square timber stringers, timber retaining wall, and the squared timber kerbs. The Willaring Bridge over the Richardson River at Morrl Morrl is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with infrastructure developments in the local area in the late 19th century and represents one of few remaining predominantly intact timber bridges still in use. In particular, this bridge was built in c.1887 and has associations with T. and A. Williams, original bridge builders. Overall, the Willaring Bridge over the Richardson River at Morrl Morrl is of LOCAL significance.

Willaring Bridge, Callawadda Willaring Road, MORRL MORRL - Physical Description 1
The Willaring Bridge over the Richardson River at Morrl Morrl is constructed of timber with two trestles comprising four unsquared piles braced with squared walings and cross bracings. There are single square crossheads and square timber stringers. The retaining walls lining each end of the underside of the bridge are constructed of timber posts and horizontal palings.
Squared timber kerbs support timber posts and introduced galvanised steel guardrails. The bridge has an introduced steel deck overlaid with asphalt.
