METHODIST CHURCH HALL - Physical Description 1
This timber hall is of unusual form and detail. The central gable section is raised to allow for clerestory windows along each side with skillion roofs flanking it on each side giving a Basilician form of cross-section. The weatherboard cladding is of unusual profile best descried as rebated bullnosed bead edging. Over the central of the three doors is a small timber pediment with the flanking doors having 'classical cornice door heads. Over the central doorway is a quite elaborate tripartite window of a mo1ified Palladian design. The window lights are separated by panelled pilasters and above the side lights are two panels of classical vase and anthemian motifs, surmounted by a classical cornice window head. The window surmounts four foliated scroll consoles.
The church hall is part of a group with the adjacent church and parsonage and is an important element of Barkly Street.
