Roby Manuel Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
The Roby Lewis Manuel Memorial, in Atkinson Memorial Park, comprises of a brass plaque on an upright stone. The inscription is dedicated to airman "Captain Roby Lewis Manuel DRC and bar twice MID, born October 7 1895, died October 18 1975." Roby was a member of the Australian Flying Corps when it began in 1917 and he fought over German lines, shooting down fifteen planes and battling the 'Red Baron' squadron. He led the fly past in London on Anzac Day 1919 and served again in the Second World War.
