Statement of Significance
This simple undated, (circa 1913), slab blacksmith shop is a typical example of a once common building style and use, now rarely seen outside private farm complexes. The accociation with Murray River Saw Mills, which operated in the district from 1891 until present (1987), makes the building historically important. Although relocated to Rotary Park from the Anstruther Street Saw Mill site in the early 1970s, its continued use as a working blacksmith shop and position within a public complex allows community access.
