Statement of Significance
Rare or localised
Located in the Queens garden, this is an attractive example of a tree rare in cultivation in Victoria. The species appears to have been extensively planted around the turn of the century, particularly in provincial botanic gardens and this is the furthest north any planting has survived.
The Chilean wine palm is native to Chile where it has the most southerly distribution of any palm in South America.
