Statement of Significance
The house at 13 Ligar Street, Stawell, has significance as a moderately intact example of a Federation style. Built in the early 20th century, the design reflects some of the residential developments in Stawell at that time. The dwelling appears to be in good condition when viewed from the street.
The house at 13 Ligar Street is historically and architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Stawell in the early 20th century. The house also demonstrates some original design qualities of a Federation style. These qualities include hipped roof forms, narrow eaves and painted brick chimney with chimney pot. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the single storey height, galvanised corrugated steel roof cladding, central front doorway, and the flanking timber framed double hung windows.
Overall, the house at 13 Ligar Street is of LOCAL significance.

House, 13 Ligar Street, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
The timber house would appear to have been constructed in the early 20th century by its form and decoration. The house is sited behind a high front fence at a modest set back from the street boundary. The house has a steeply pitched hipped roof clad in corrugated steel. There is a hipped roofed return verandah across the front and to one side. The verandah roof is also clad din corrugated steel and is supported in timber posts with a straight frieze of square timber railings supported on decorative timber brackets. There is one remaining painted brick chimney with a terracotta chimney pot. The house has a central doorway with flanking timber framed double hung windows.
