Statement of Significance
The house at 12 Skene Street, Stawell, makes a significant architectural and visual contribution to the predominantly late 19th and early 20th century residential area. It is significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level, being associated with residential developments in Stawell in the early 20th century and demonstrates some important design qualities of an interwar Bungalow style. These qualities include the gable roof forms, stuccoed wall finishes, front verandah supported by timber columns on elongated stuccoed piers, lapped galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, wide eaves and paired timber brackets under the gables and the window and door openings.
