Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A large double-storey brick Californian Bungalow built in 1923. It is architecturally significant locally as representative of this domestic style in a larger house. It is historically significant in embodying the comfortable family life of the manse, between the wars for which reason it also demonstrates some local social significance amongst generations of Newtown's Presbyterians.

Residence - Physical Description 1
A large double-storey Californian Bungalow with a major gable across, and a very broad, but minor gable facing Shannon Avenue. This covers the porch, supported on square abstracted Tuscan columns, over brick plinths, with brick balustrades, both with render caps.
It is red brick, with unglazed terracotta Marseilles tiles, finials and pots. Chimney caps are on corbels. There are various rectangular and canted bays with shingled roofs. Upper sashes have rectangular leadlight panes. The entrance is recessed and the door glazed, next to a canted bay window both beneath the porch. There is a similar outbuilding, perhaps a laundry.
