DOMED WELL - History
No specific place history is known. VicTrack records do not indicate structures or features at this location. The 1880s saw the largest expansion to the Victorian Railway system with two major Acts of Parliament passing in December 1880 (Railway Act 1880) and December 1884 (Railway Act 1884). These authorised the construction of 23 and 66 new lines respectively. Construction works began on a direct railway between Melbourne and Ballarat, with John Robb carrying out works for the construction of the railway section between Footscray and Bacchus Marsh on 9 February 1855. The Sunshine-Melton section was opened on Wednesday 2 April 1884; the Melton-Parwan Section opened on Thursday 1 April 1886; Ballan-Gordon section on 22 December 1886; Parwan-Bacchus Marsh section on 16 February 1887 and the Bacchus Marsh-Ballan section opened on 4 December 1889.
