STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The house known as "Eulo" at 19 Pevensey Crescent, East Geelong, has significance as an intact example of the Late Victorian Italianate style. Built in 1898 for Daniel Brown, draper, to a design by the prolific Geelong architects, Laird and Barlow, the house appears to be in good condition when viewed from the street. "Eulo" at 19 Pevensey Crescent is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of the Late Victorian Italianate style. These qualities include the complex roof forms that include the recessed hipped roof form, minor hipped roof, and two conical roofs below window bays that project towards the street frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the asymmetrical composition, single storey height, horizontal weatherboard wall cladding, lapped galvanised corrugated steel roof cladding, three brick and strapped chimneys with terra cotta pots, narrow eaves with worked timber brackets, projecting front bays with timber framed double hung windows, fluted window hood, other timber framed windows, timber framed front doorway with sidelights and highlights, round cast iron verandah columns with decorative capitals surmounted by elaborate cast iron brackets, and the ornamental cast iron verandah valance. The front timber picket fence also contributes to the significance of the place. "Eulo" at 19 Pevensey Crescent is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments in Geelong in the late 19th century. In particular, this house has associations with Daniel Brown, draper and original owner from 1898. The house also has associations with the prolific Geelong architects, Laird and Barlow. Overall, "Eulo" at 19 Pevensey Crescent is of LOCAL significance.

Residence 'Eulo' - Physical Description 1
The house known as "Eulo" at 19 Pevensey Crescent, Geelong, is set on a large allotment with a modest front setback and contextually wide side setbacks. The front garden consists of a brick path with flanking grassed areas and perimeter flower and garden beds. The front is bound by a timber picket fence and gate that are approximately 1200 mm high.The asymmetrical, single storey, horizontal weatherboard, Late Victorian Italianate styled house is characterised by complex roof forms that include a recessed hipped roof form, minor hipped roof, and two conical roofs below window bays that project towards the street frontage. There is also an early convex return verandah that projects to the front and side. These roof forms are clad in lapped galvanised corrugated steel. Three early face brick and strapped chimneys with terra cotta pots adorn the roofline. Narrow overhangs with worked timber brackets are features of the eaves.A feature of the design is the projecting bays at the front. These bays have early timber framed double hung windows, with the bay under the front hipped roof having a fluted window hood above. The other timber framed windows also appear to be early, as does the timber framed front doorway with sidelights and highlights.Another early feature of the design is the front convex verandah. It is supported by round cast iron columns with decorative capitals surmounted by elaborate cast iron brackets. The ornamental cast iron verandah valance is also early.

Largely intact, weatherboard, hipped roof clad in lapped corrugated metal sheeting, timber brackets & string moulding to eaves, brick chimneys with banding & terracotta pots. Return verandah with convex roof, fluted columns with capitals, timber framed cast iron frieze, timber deck, basalt stair. Faceted bay window to front with large distinctive hood, tall timber windows with leadlight to upper sash, panelled timber door with leadlight to upper part & leadlight highlight & sidelights.
