STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The dwelling on the corner of Moolap Street and the Bellarine Highway was the Moolap Inn built in the 1850s. The building has undergone many changes but retains the bluestone cellars and other intact fabric. The dwelling on the corner of Moolap Street and the Bellarine Highway has historic and social value to the Moolap and Bellarine peninsula communities. Although it has been extensively altered it marks the site of an important building in early settlement. It is of LOCAL cultural significance.

Additional Information Description in 1886 of the original building quoted in Wynd, p.96 quota well built, two storey, brick building, with slate roof, containing bar and sitting rooms, with good dry cellar, kitchen and store room and, on the first floor , five well finished bedrooms. There is also a good underground tank and 3stalled stable , and about four acres of capital land with the option of other 6 acres, if desired. The house is well placed for business, and a good paying trade is well done. quot
