C Listed - Local Significance
St Patrick's Roman Catholic Hall was built as a church in 1942. The simple building of weatherboard and fibro is now used as a church hall.
It is of historic and social significance to the local Portarlington community.
St Patrick's Roman Catholic Hall represents the significant religious and social influence of teh denomination's adherents in Portarlington and surrounds. It was built some years after the original St Patrick's church (no on this site) was demolished. Probably intended as a temporary church building when it was constructed, the building became a hall when a new church building was opened in 1966, the third in the denomination's history in Portarlington.
It is of LOCAL cultural significance.

St Patricks Catholic Hall - Physical Description 1
Sited on a large open come r block that is part 01 ttle Caholic Church grounds. It was bui t In 1942 after the original brlck church was demolished. The unusal timber framed. weatherboard andfibro clad building has a rectangular plan and a gable roof, clad in corrugated iron, running east-west.
The east elevation has plan bargeboards on the gable ends, a small 'oriental' style corrugated iron hood over the entrance door, two narrow rectangular windows either side fo teh timber door, and a rectangular louvered vent as gable decoration. The north elevation has five regularly arranged and rectangular windows with diamond shaped leadlighting.
