Statement of Significance
Architecturally, of a typical late 19th century form but altered in detail, although possessing interesting details such as the door pediment; also sited in landscaped grounds which are evocative of its original setting: of regional interest and local importance.
Historically, of high regional and local importance as the home of J.M. Peck, possessing sufficient integrity to express Peck's habitat in later life. Peck's history is particularly pertinent to the Essendon, Flemington sub-region.

LEBANON HOUSE - Physical Description 1
A two storeyed, Italianate styled stuccoed brick house, with a two level cast iron verandah, fronting three sides. Duplex corner posts support panelled iron friezes and balustrading, whilst a pediment surmounts the main entrance. An altered wing is attached to the west side and possesses a second main entrance door at the north-west corner. (Harry Peck lived with is father and may have occupied this). An unusual aspect is the asymmetrical bay window which is at ground level, south-cast corner; this suggests a single-storey precursor to Lebanon. Of note are the mature landscape and stone walling at the boundary (20th century).
The balustrade has been rebuilt (refer, cellar stairs), the verandah floor has been repaved (albeit sympathetically) with quarry tiles, edged with basalt; the roofs have been tiled (presumed slate originally) the roof plumbing has been generally altered/ replaced; the north west wing (once provided with its own verandah and a gabled roof line) has been generally altered, retaining the door case and stuccoed walls as the only recognisable period aspects.
Streetscape
Set back and unrelated to the surrounding residential area; the garden wall provides and exotic element in an otherwise typical residential streetscape.Heritage Study and Grading
