FARM DUMP SITE - KH 1 - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Numerous bottles provide an indication of the site's date. One bottle has the trademark "M.G.A 1923" - earliest dated bottle. Several M.B.C.V bottles with embossed horse-shoes, recent soft drink bottles (c. 1950's-1960's), brown poison bottles, "Vines Vinegar" bottle, brown "Pineaire" bottle (Disinfectant?). Most have screw tops. Bottles indicate that this is a recent dump dating from 1920's and up to 1960's. One plastic bottle was also noted.

Site appears to have been used continually as a pastorla property from at least c1920s to present. The artefact dump is associated with occupation from c1920s to 1960s
FARM DUMP SITE - KH 1 - Archaeological Significance
Domestic/pastoral sites from the early to mid 20thC are not uncommon throughout Victoria. The artefacts were dumped at this site and have since been further disturbed. Diagnositc features may provide information on consumerism, trade and other aspects of life in early 20thC Victoria. Low significance.
Heritage Inventory Description
FARM DUMP SITE - KH 1 - Heritage Inventory Description
A farm dump site exposed by dam excavation. The site is adjacent to the Mordialloc Main Drain, east of Springvale Rd and north of Pillars Rd. The site consists of a rectangular dam with artefacts exposed in the bank at the south end. Two mounds of earth o east and west sides of the dam also contain artefacts.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Moderate scientific and local significance.
Heritage Inventory Site Features: Dam, with artefatcs evident in associated mounds. The site features a large number of machine made bottles, many of which have been stacked under a sheet or iron in the eastern mound. Some are also exposed in the bank of the dam. Several fragments of ceramics (stoneware, porcelain) exposed and numerous metal artefacts including a rusted milk can, metal beams and bracing.
