BLAKE'S MILL SITE, POWELLTOWN - History
Harry Blake was the first sawmiller to move into Little Yarra Valley and this is probably the site of his first mill in 1901. In 1912 Victorian Powell Wood Co. took over and renamed the settlement known as "Blackes' Mills" to "Powelltown".BLAKE'S MILL SITE, POWELLTOWN - Interpretation of Site

Low archaeological significance. There are a few surface features and low potential for associated archaeological remains.
BLAKE'S MILL SITE, POWELLTOWN - Historical Significance
Locally significant as one of the first saw mills in the area, and the town still named after the company that took over themills in 1912.

Clear tramway formation with some buried timber edging and a deep cutting running along the low side of the block. No evidence of a sawdust heap (recorded in 1975)
