Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The single room hut built of vertical hardwood timber boards with a timber shingle roof at an unknown date, stands at the rear of Applegarth House on Marcus Hill. The structure is representative of primitive vernacular building techniques, but the historical associations with the area cannot be accurately documented and little is recorded of the original owners/occupants and use of the structure. The roof cladding has been replaced with corrugated iron sheets.
References
This structure, of unknown origins and age, remains undocumented, despite a search of general archives, indexes and historic sources
Although the hut is of primitive vernacular construction it may be of relatively recent age and a detailed historical and architectural investigation is recommended before the heritage status is finally resolved and an evaluation of significance undertaken.
