Statement of Significance
A bluestone Gothic church designed by William Wardell and built between 1859 and 1871. This is Wardell's most complete Australian parish church and comprises a long nave and aisles and apsidal chancel under an unbroken roof ridge, side chapels and sacristies. It is notable for its wealth of internal fittings, including stained glass by Mayers, Zettler, and Mathieson & Gibson. Chancel decorations by Lyon, Cottier & Wells, and elliptical rood beam spanning the chancel.
