Statement of Significance
The Overdale slate quarry consisted of just one outcrop of slate. The nearest known source being at Castlemaine. It was worked by men living in Great Western. Samples of the large shaped slates can be seen at Overdale homestead. The quarry is a rare surviving industrial site in the area. Further historical research and detailed site inspection may indicate that the place be considered for upgrading to,local significance. Support for retention of the place should be given where possible.
