Toll Gate - Physical Description 1
The former Toll Gate is situated in the foyer of the Mechanics Institute complex, Western Highway, Great Western.
The modestly scale, horizontal weatherboard, rudimentary Victorian styled Toll Gate structure is characterised by a simple gable roof form. The main side is identified by an arched opening framed by a moulded timber architrave. A rounded corner bench projects at the front, with a panelled timber door opening in the centre. Crowning the opening of the arch is the title "Western Toll Gates", and within the structure is a reconstructed "Tolls Payable" sign.
