Statement of Significance
The house at 20 D'Alton Street, Stawell, has significance as an intact example of a late 19th timber villa. The house appears to be in good condition when viewed from the street.
The house at 20 D'Alton Street, Stawell, is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of a late 19th 20th century timber villa. These qualities include the single storey height; the gable roof forms; the corrugated iron roof cladding; the square edged weatherboard wall cladding; front verandah; brick external chimney; the timber bay window with steeply pitched roof and timber framed double hung windows and timber panelling below. The mature Norfolk Island Pine trees contributes to the buildings setting.
Overall, the house at 20 D'Alton Street, Stawell, is of LOCAL significance.

The house at 20 D'Alton Street, Stawell, is set in a on a slightly sloping site rising from the street boundary. There is a large Norfolk Island Pine tree dominating the front garden.
The house at 20 D'Alton Street, Stawell, constructed in the 19th century. Is a single storey, weatherboard house characterised by dominate transverse gable roof projecting towards the street. The house also has a front verandah and the roofs are clad in painted galvanised corrugated iron. There is a tall early brick external chimney on one side. Narrow overhangs supported on timber brackets are features of the eaves.
The walls are clad in square edged weatherboards. The windows appear to have been altered in many cases except for the dominate front bay window. This has a steeply pitched roof and has timber framed double hung windows with decorative timber panelling below.Heritage Study and Grading
