Statement of Significance
Fraser Park, Main Street, Stawell is an area of open land near to Big Hill. It commemorates mining in the area from 1856 to 1920 which was the year that the last mine on Big Hill ceased operating before the resurgence in mining in the 1980s. The Park includes a collection of mining equipment including a steam winding engine and bucket, gig and rake, bailing tank, cage and truck which aims to interpret some of the mining heritage of the area.
Fraser Park, Main Street, Stawell is historically and scientifically significant at a LOCAL level. It is a memorial to mining at Big Hill and nearby which was central to the developmentof Stawell and includes original equipment used to mine the gold.
Overall, Fraser Park, Main Street, Stawell is of LOCAL significance.

Fraser Park, Main Street, STAWELL - Physical Description 1
Fraser Park, Main Street, Stawell is an area of open land near to Big Hill. The park is mainly grassed with a number of native trees planted. The Park includes a collection of mining equipment including a reconstructed brick support base and parts of a steam winding engine and bucket, gig and rake, bailing tank, cage and truck which aims to interpret some of the mining heritage of the area. On the brick base structure is a panel depicting and naming the mining relics displayed.
