Bump Tunnel - Physical Description 1
The saddle which is called 'The Bump' divides the Little Yarra valley from the Latrobe River valley. A 313m long, timber-lined tunnel, about 2.8m wide and 4.0m high with a centrally located vent shaft. Build in 1925 to take timber loads through, rather than over this obstacle. Tunnel entrances are still visible but closed. On the surface are several cave-ins created when the tunnel was deliberately collapsed to seal it for 'safety reasons'. (Supple 1991)
