Heritage Inventory History of Site:
SOUTH ESTATE Co. No.1 shaft,
05.04.1895: yield of 15 ozs for 2 weeks.
19.04.1895: yield of 29 ozs 8.5 dwt for 2 weeks.
17.05.1895: yield of 22 oz for two weeks.
25.12.1897: operated throughout the year but the yield of 480 ozs did not pay wages.
1899 : this party of nineteen shareholders took up 38 acres following the success of the New Estate Co.; the original shaft in the north of the claim was not paying and a second shaft at the southern end of the claim which is paying fairly well; the claim is worked by whim.
1899 to 12.190: recorded production of 5550 ozs 7 dwt (or 172.639 kg).Heritage Inventory Description
SOUTH ESTATE CO - Heritage Inventory Description
The mullock heap at the South Estate Co No.1 shaft has two section, 40m by 15m by 2.5m high and 50m by 25m by 3m high, joined to make a very rough 'T' shape. The site has been bulldozed and its shape is very irregular.
