20 MORELAND STREET RESIDENCE - History
Josephs Road precinct as defined when the railway line and bridge were built in the 1850's across the northern boundary. To the south is the Footscray village (surveyed in 1849). 1840s - 1860s rural/ sugarbeet distillery. 1860s - 1880s Urban developement/ tanneries. 1880s -1915 Residential and urban growth. 1910 -1952 expansion of tanneries.20 MORELAND STREET RESIDENCE - Interpretation of Site
Residence c.1864-1894. Warehouse (tannery) c.1850. Warehouse current- recent 1980's?
20 MORELAND STREET RESIDENCE - Archaeological Significance
Current structure brown brock open plan. Moderately likely that remains of the house and earlier warehouse may exist below ground.
20 MORELAND STREET RESIDENCE - Historical Significance
Mid 19th Century residence superceded by tannery warehouse within residential/ industrial precinct. This is a good example of thistype of interrelationship.

20 MORELAND STREET RESIDENCE - Heritage Inventory Description
Potential site of a residence dating to c. 1864. may be the same also marked on a plan dating to 1877 and again in 1894. By 1952 the house was removed and a warehouse associated with the tannery was built. Currently there is a brown brick open plan building here.
