10 MORELAND STREET - History
Josephs Rd precintct defined by the railway and bridge constructed in the 1850's alond nothern boundary. The Footscray village surveyed in 1849 lies to the south. Between 1840's and 1860's rural land use and sugarbeet distillery, 1860's -1879 Urban developement of the tanneries, 1880's- 1915 residential and urban growth. 1910 -1952 expansion of tanneries.10 MORELAND STREET - Interpretation of Site

10 MORELAND STREET - Historical Significance
Mid 19th Century residence superceded by an early 20th Century warehouse associated with a tannery, located within a residential and industrial precinct on the Maribynnong river in Footscray. Associated with important historical developements for Footscray.
10 MORELAND STREET - Archaeological Significance
Currently an open plan warehouse stands in this lacation. Given there were two earlier phases of developement here, it is moderately likely that intact structural remains and associated desposits remain here below ground.

10 MORELAND STREET - Heritage Inventory Description
The potential site of a residence dating to c. 1864. The residence was later replaced by warehouses associated with the tannery (Hallenstein) dating to 1910. These have subsequently been replaced by more recent warehouses.
