WARSIDA - Physical Description 1
The imposing parapet is the most striking feature of this pair of terrace houses probably erected in the 1890's/ The terraces are of a simple polychrome design with the entrance doors and tri-partite windows highlighted by lighter coloured brickwork. The verandah has a simple decorative cast iron frieze.
The remarkably large parapet has a central triangular pediment with a large urn surmounting the apex. The pediment is supported on dwarf pilasters with a freixe of greek inspiration below. The nameplate with curved ends encolses the ornate name of the terrace; the florid tudor lettering appears inconsistent with the generally restrained classical elements of the design. Flanking the pediment the parapet is divided into two bays on each side each topped by urns.
There are few single storey terrace houses in Ballarat and this pair is remarkable for the distinctive and decorative parapet.
