Two Gas Lamps (Craigs Hotel) - Physical Description 1
These two gas lamps, positioned at the, corner of Bath Lane and Lydiard Street, and at the Southern end of Craig's Hotel, are of great interest. They represent two of the last remaining gas lamps attached to a hotel, and are constructed in cast iron and glass. The name "Craig's Royal Hotel" is incorporated into the lamp design, as was usual for hotel lights. They were probably erected in 1890-1900. They are extremely important streetscape components to the Lydiard Street precinct, and as a pair attached to an ornate hotel are possibly unique to the State of Victoria.
