DUNVEGAN (HOUSE) - Physical Description 1
It is recommended that this building be added to the Register of the National Estate and be specified under Clause 8 of the Town and Country Planning Act (Third Schedule)
This large rendered single storied house is notable for the entrance motif breaking through the verandah. This Italianate motif was used by Melbourne Architect Charles Webb. This could be the house referred to in the tender notice in the Ballarat Star of 22 October 1856, when H.R.Caselli called tenders for a residence for
Townshend McDermott Esq. cnr. Drummond and Mair Streets. Townshend McDermott was a member of the Legeslative Assembly in 1874.
