Broadwood Flats (Former) - Physical Description 1
Broadwood Flats would appear to have been built as a pair of houses. The two storied building consists of panelled doric pilasters at the corners and flanking the two entrance porches on the ground floo.r, supporting a plain frieze above which, on the upper floor, are three cornice columns with an engaged ionic column at each end of the balcony. The columns support a plain cornice and frieze with dentils, above which is a panelled parapet from which urns or balls are now missing. The double light ground floor windows are in a slightly projecting plain panel with the arched entrance porches being more ornate. The recessed balcony is an unusual feature of the building with horizontal coursing ruled on the wall surface and tall irregularly spaced windows. This building is of interest for the unusual form of its recessed balcony with irregularly spaced ionic columns and the unusually proportioned windows in the upper storey.
