TERRACE HOUSES AND SHOP - Physical Description 1
This stepped brick terrace of five houses terminated in a verandahed corner shop. Terrace housing is not common in Ballarat and this example is unusual for its length and the way the buildings step down and slope. Although the terrace has suffered some alterations (the shop and the adjacent house have led the face brickwork painted) is in the main intact and is a significant streetscape element.
The houses are identical with a central door, flanking windows .and the Verandah divided into three by cast iron posts. The cast iron frieze is supported by brackets at the walls and posts. The red brick facades are relieved at sill level and below the top of the windows by a cream brick strip. Cream bricks are also used for the eaves brackets and on the chimneys.
