Colemans Spring Conservation Precinct - Physical Description 1
A description in the Buninyong Telegraph in 1875 indicates the spring was a highly valued water source. "...the Borough Council are now erecting a high close fence enclosing a space of six feet around the three sides of the pump tank at Coleman's Spring to prevent any pollution to the water, and the police have instructions to keep watch so that anyone interfering with the pump or building will be punished. The Council have also utilized the waste water by making two excellent drinking pools for cattle which will be a great boon to the township as the water is always pure, clean and abundant at all seasons".
