Meares House Watsonia - Veterans Description for Public
The Meares House in Watsonia was requisitioned by the Army in 1938 for training purposes. In 1941 Army purchased the Meares House and the surrounding area was used as a medical training area and the houseturned intoa hospital. The area also included administration staff, a camp reception and transit camp for the troops. The area was given the official title of "Camp Q", but become known as "Watsonia Camp".
