Statement of Significance
Located in Alphington Park, the Alphington war memorial is a marble statue of a World War I soldier standing easy on a grey granite pedestal. Its north face reads, ERECTED BY THE RESIDENTS IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF ALPHINGTON WHO FOUGHT IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919. MAY WE BE WORTHY OF THEM. As stated on the memorial, it was unveiled by his Excellency Lord Forster P.C. G.C.M.G.Governor General of Australia on the 25th of September 1921.

Alphington WWI Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
Located in Alphington Park, the Alphington War Memorial is a marble statue of a First World War soldier standing at ease on a grey granite pedestal. Tbe north face of the memorial reads, "Erected By The Residents In Grateful Remembrance Of The Men Of Alphington Who Fought In The Great War 1914 - 1919. May We Be Worthy Of Them." The memorial lists the names 105 fallen and returned soldiers. It was unveiled by his Excellency Lord Forster P.C. G.C.M.G.Governor General of Australiaon September 25th 1921.
