Structures on site from 1854. Grentee JF Strachan, a prominent wool store owner in Geelong. May also be associated with the former Black Bull Inn that fronts Malop St and is close to Market Square.

Potential archaeological site containing early domestic building remains and discarded artefacts dating back to 1854.
