BALL AND WELCH SITE RUINS - History
1840s: Mr. C. Ball and his family and nephew, Mr. W.H. Welch, arrive in Victoria
1855: Mrs. Ball returns from a trip to England with goods and the store is set up by the Balls and the Welchs
1888: the Vaughan store is destroyed by fire. It had a timber frontage, and a small part of the building was of iron and brick.

The site is believed to be the remains of the Ball and Welch Store (ca.1855-1888) and is associated with the goldrush era in Vaughan.
