Statement of Significance
Architecturally, a distinctive Queen Anne design by the style's most adept architects which is sited within a contemporary streetscape; of regional importance.
Historically, Stanmore's first owner is typical of the class which has become associated with the Camberwell municipality.

Travencore (formerly Stanmore) - Physical Description 1
Freeland's description is apt, given the evident intention to create a picturesque roof line and a plan which follows suit. Attic rooms had both the functional advantage of cheap second level space and the design advantage of potentially numerous roof shapes protruding from the archetypical hipped main roof. Chimneys also, by bends in the ample roof space, could appear at desirable and often surprising locations in the roof line, such as either side of the hipped attic at Stanmore. Unlike some corner turrets, Stanmore's rests on a window bay, at the verandah corner, but the multiple gabled porches which promise generous access to this verandah are true to their promise in one instance only. These varied forms and the verandah are assembled between the two typical protruding gabled bays: the hipped main roof shapes rising only as high as the attic rooms determined and allowing further opportunity for a break in the roof line.
The house compares favourably with many of the medium-sized Queen Anne houses from Ussher & Kemp, or other architects. In contrast to some it represents a more picturesque roof profile and verandah form (cf. former King residence, Park Street, Essendon) but has none of the eccentric elements seen in Ussher's Mellor house, Mont Albert Road (1898) (i.e. engaged chimneys). The fence pickets have been cut back but gate posts survive; the exotic garden is sympathetic to the period.
Travencore (formerly Stanmore) - Integrity
The fence has been altered and replaced; the gate replaced; part of the verandah enclosed in the 19205 (?); the windows reglazed and an attic balcony glazed in (?).
