Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
St David's Uniting Church is an interesting Edwardian church of 1914, regionally significant for its English Arts and Crafts influenced details over the generally Decorated Gothic design including the fine hammer-beam roof. This building has a regional historical significance as an example of a new Presbyterian church established in 1914 in response to the development of Newtown as a suburb of Geelong, providing specialized functions for the Geelong district. Its social significance has meaning for generations of Newtown Presbyterians.

St David's Church and Hall - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
An Edwardian Presbyterian Church of red brick with render dressings. It has a cruciform plan gable roof, terminating in gable parapets. These have large decorated Gothic traceried windows and render decorated with English Arts and Crafts influenced blind arcading and four ribs terminating in pinnacles decorated with crockets. There are three bays before the crossing with double lancets to each and buttresses between. The narthex parapet roof has a cove cornice with rosette decoration over a quatrefoil decorated panel. There are two pairs of doors beneath a massive canopy supported by console brackets. The crossing has Arts and Crafts influenced fleche with fine Gothic decorative vents on each face. There is a fine hammerbeam timber roof structure. The interior has a memorial to Reverend Arthur Davidson dated 1924
