Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
The State Savings Bank was built in 1922 to the design of eminent Geelong architects Buchan Laird and Buchan. It is of local significance.
POLICY/RECOMMENDATIONS:
G.R.P.S.
Restoration of the front facade, particularly the rendered title at stringcourse level (now hidden by a wide strip with white writing). Would greatly enhance the character of this building.

State Bank (former) - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION
It is a two storey red brick structure with a terra cotta tile roof and cement render detailing. The fenestration consists of regularly spaced rectangles on the upper floor and the side elevations of the lower floor. The window and door openings have been altered recently. The front elevation is dominated by the paired pilasters on either corner. I These extend to the top of the high parapets creating the illusion of massive, solid piers. There are many similarly designed State Savings Banks throughout Victoria.
